Application

1. Soil Application:

• Broadcasting:

  Granular urea can be spread evenly across the soil surface. To reduce nitrogen loss through volatilization, it's recommended to incorporate the urea into the soil through light tillage or apply it just before rainfall or irrigation. 

   
• Fertigation:

  Urea can be dissolved in water and applied through irrigation systems (like flood, furrow, or sprinkler irrigation). This method ensures even nutrient distribution. 

   

2. Foliar Application:

• Dissolving in water:

  Urea can be dissolved in water and sprayed directly onto plant leaves. This method provides a quick source of nitrogen. 

   
• Concentration:

  Foliar application requires careful attention to concentration to avoid leaf burn. A common recommendation is to dissolve 1-2 grams of urea in a liter of water. 

   
• Timing:

  Foliar application is best done during cooler parts of the day or when the temperature is moderate to minimize the risk of burning the leaves.
